'I have a feeling': Sky pundit suggests simple tactic that'll help Liverpool beat Manchester City
Jamie Redknapp spoke on The Essential Football Podcast on Sky Sports about how Liverpool can beat defending Premier League champions Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are on a roll this season. They’re unbeaten in all competitions so far and are currently on top of the Premier League table. However, their biggest test awaits them this weekend.
Manchester City beat many people’s title favourites Chelsea last weekend and they are aiming to beat the Reds as well. Redknapp, however, believes that Liverpool will win the game, especially if they employ one simple tactic.
Redknapp: Give the ball to Salah and he’ll win Liverpool the game
Mohamed Salah is undoubtedly Liverpool’s best player at the moment. He has been absolutely sensational so far this season, and Redknapp believes that the Reds will pick up the win if they just ‘keep giving the ball’ to the Egyptian.
Under a section on Sky Sports that says ‘Liverpool must get the ball to Salah to win the game,’ Redknapp is quoted saying: “Liverpool will have that confidence boost from the goals in midweek, while Man City, after two tough games, Guardiola might have to shuffle his pack.
“I have a feeling Liverpool will win this game. The confidence running through the veins of this team. Salah is in the form of his life and will cause this Man City defence problems.
“City’s full-backs will want to run the other way but if they leave space for Salah he’ll cut them open. City’s defence is great with Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias but keep giving the ball to Salah because teams can’t live with him right now.”
Salah’s numbers this season have been outstanding. The Egyptian has eight goals and two assists to his name in just eight appearances, averaging a goal every 86 minutes this term, a truly stunning return.
Football is a team sport and that’s how every manager should approach every game. However, looking at the kind of form Salah is in right now, we won’t bet against Redknapp’s tactic – just give the ball to the Egyptian and he’ll win you the game.
