Jamie O’Hara says Tottenham insiders got in touch with him after his comments about the state of the club on Sky Sports.

O’Hara blasted the quality of the squad and called on the ownership to invest in the squad to take the club where he wants them to go.

O’Hara was on TalkSPORT after the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace last night and shared what people inside Spurs had said to him after his rant.

O’Hara says Tottenham insiders got in touch about his comments.

The pundit said: “I may have had a few people from Spurs giving me a little message about my chat, but it needed to be said.

“The bench (at Palace) was nowhere near good enough. Nowhere near good enough for Spurs. It’s crazy really when you look at the bench and the money we have spent. Miles off it.

“I had a few people from Spurs reach out. They sent me a few things in terms of net spend and money and things like that, and said: ‘you know he has been backed, Spurs have spent this and Spurs have spent that’.”

O’Hara is always passionate and forthright with his views, although elsewhere after the game he blasted the quality of the squad but also said that Spurs don’t need to buy more squad players.

His argument is that Conte needs players who can come into the first XI and make a difference, relegating current starters to bench options and strengthening depth that way.

That will cost serious money though, especially in January and it remains to be seen how much Spurs spend mid-season.

That said, they did back Conte with Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski this time last year and that made a major difference en route to finishing fourth.
