Emi Martinez was stretchered off last night with a head injury in Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia.
The Aston Villa star went down in the 38th minute after being on the receiving end of an unintentional elbow from Everton defender Yerry Mina, knocking the keeper out.

However, Martinez appears to be fine despite a worrying scene at the Estadio Metropolitano. The 28-year-old keeper confirmed after the match that he is feeling better despite the heavy blow via the Mirror.
Martinez said on his injury: “I’m better, it was a strong hit but the doctors did their job. Obviously, I wanted to continue playing, the anger of being taken out, and I found out that they drew at the end.”
The former Arsenal star has been a revelation for Villa since joining last year. Martinez kept 15 clean sheets and helped the Birmingham club to 11th in the Premier League.
Villa supporters on social media were nervous for the keeper after going off last night in a stretcher.
