Liverpool fans were left absolutely baffled after seeing Divock Origi handed their captain’s armband last night.
Captain fantastic?
Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners over Osasuna in their final pre-season friendly.
By the end of the night, Liverpool’s line-up had a rather experimental feel to it.
But at one stage Origi was handed the armband by Thiago Alcantara.
And Liverpool fans were shocked that it was the Belgian who was given the honour of captaining the side, even in pre-season.
On his way out?
Origi, in fairness, was one of the longest serving Liverpool players on the pitch last night.
However, it seems that the Belgian striker could well depart this summer – making him an odd choice to wear the armband, even in a non-competitive match.
Liverpool’s preparations will now turn to Premier League matters, with a more familiar face likely to lead the line out at the weekend.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are due to face newly promoted Norwich City on Saturday to kick their season off.
