‘I feel sick’: Arsenal fans react as Wilfried Zaha makes transfer admission

Arsenal fans have been reacting on Twitter after Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha claimed he nearly signed for the club under Unai Emery.

Speaking to Jamie Carragher’s Greatest Game podcast, Zaha – who Palace previously valued at around £100m – admitted he had held talks with Emery and that the Gunners decided to move for Nicolas Pepe instead.

Zaha has remained with Palace ever since and is enjoying a stellar season for the Eagles under Roy Hodgson.

For Arsenal fans, though, it is a stark reminder of a transfer call they might have just got wrong, especially given Pepe’s struggles since his move from Lille.

Taking to Twitter, a number of Gunners supporters have expressed their frustration at hearing the news from Zaha, with the overriding consensus being this is one that slipped the net.
