‘I fear he might go’: Sky pundit makes claim about ‘unique’ centre-back linked with Spurs last year

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with Kristoffer Ajer last year and, though speculation has since subsided, Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker reckons he’ll be on the move this summer.

In April last year, Sporten reported that Spurs were ready to reignite their interest in the 22-year-old centre-back after his former agent claimed that a summer move was likely for his client.

Although Ajer is now being represented by a new agency, Tottenham were again linked with the 6ft 5in Norwegian last summer, football.london suggesting Spurs could target him.

With his contract expiring in the summer of 2022 and on the back of a dismal season for Celtic, Walker feels Ajer could well up sticks at the end of the campaign.

“While Rangers have been so successful this season, it has been an awful season for Celtic but I like Kristoffer Ajer,” he told Sky Sports.

“It has not been his best year but he is so comfortable on the ball and I rate him – it would be a big boost if he stays at Celtic but I fear he might go elsewhere.”

Ajer is a talented, imposing centre-back who has already won eight trophies at Celtic despite his young age and is certainly destined for a big move.

“I can say he’s a unique talent and the more he plays, the more clubs are going to come to see him,” teammate Christopher Jullien told the Daily Record about him last year.

Meanwhile, Spurs really could do with bolstering their defensive ranks, so Ajer would be a good shout considering his talent, potential, and a contract that runs out next season.
