'I fancy them': Paul Merson shares prediction for Arsenal against Burnley
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has shared his prediction for the Premier League game between the Gunners and Burnley on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta’s charges finally got their first points on board last weekend following three consecutive losses.
Arsenal had a long, agonising wait to attempt to get back on track due to the international break.
When it came, the Gunners managed to do just enough to get over the line, beating Norwich 1-0 at the Emirates.
In addition, Arsenal scored their first goal of the league campaign, courtesy of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Now, a tough challenge awaits the Gunners as they head to Turf Moor, home of one of the most physical teams in the league.
Burnley haven’t started well either, drawing one and losing three of their opening games to sit 19th in the table.
Merson, writing on Sportskeeda, acknowledges that Arsenal “fell over the line” against Norwich last week.
That said, he reckons they’ve got enough to beat Burnley, predicting a 2-1 win for Arteta’s charges.
“Burnley were bang unlucky against Everton and lost the game thanks to that bad five-minute spell in the second half,” he wrote.
“They were the better team for about 45 minutes, but all of a sudden the game was over as Everton scored three quick-fire goals.
“What I’m trying to say is that Burnley aren’t a bad team, so this could be a good Premier League contest.
“As for Arsenal, they fell over the line against Norwich City, but three points is exactly what they needed to kick-start their season.
“They’ve done well against Burnley over the years, so I fancy them to make it successive wins in the Premier League.”
