'I dream about it': 'Very fast' £51m star suggests he'd love Newcastle move

Newcastle United have been linked with Benoit Badiashile over the past few months.

In the January transfer window, Sky Sports claimed that the Magpies were in talks over the Monaco star.

They also reported that Badiashile actively wanted to make the switch to St James’ Park.

However, a separate Sky Sports report claimed Monaco wanted around €60m (£51m) for the 21-year-old.

In the end, Badiashile stayed put in the principality, and Newcastle signed Dan Burn instead.

Since then, the Magpies have all-but secured Premier League safety.

If / when Newcastle get over the line, then the summer transfer window should see more new arrivals.

And by the sounds of it, Badiashile’s desire to play in the Premier League hasn’t abated.

“I had some contact with English clubs (in January), but this was just informal contact,” Badiashile told Goal France

“For me, the Premier League is the best league. So, naturally, I dream about it.”

Badiashile would be a great shout for the Magpies, a young player who looks set for a very bright future in the game.

Monaco vice-president Oleg Petrov told Get French Football News in 2020: “He is a great talent.

“Very good technically, very humble, very fast, gives a lot of comforts when he plays, but still very young.

“Playing all the games as a starter, it is a huge opportunity for him to develop into a player of the highest calibre.”

Monaco aren’t exactly known for their hardball stance towards keeping players.

So this is certainly an avenue Newcastle must go down as they seek to bolster their ranks in the summer transfer window.
