Craig Burley has issued his verdict on Mykhaylo Mudryk after the Chelsea star’s display against Middlesbrough in the second-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have booked their ticket to Wembley. Of course, the Blues went into the second-leg 1-0 down after a defeat at the Riverside Stadium. However, Chelsea were superb in the rematch, winning 6-1 on the night.

Unfortunately for Chelsea, it was not a perfect night. Once again, Mykhaylo Mudryk endured a frustrating evening for the side.

Craig Burley says he doesn’t trust Mykhaylo Mudryk despite Chelsea win

Mudryk was handed a start for the tie. However, the Ukraine international came off at the break having done little of note during the first-half. He was also booked before being substituted.

Speaking on ESPN, Craig Burley was asked whether Pochettino now has a team he can stick with over the coming weeks after the emphatic win. And the former Chelsea midfielder insisted that Mudryk is one player who could probably still come out.

“I don’t trust Mudryk at all. I think what he does a lot of times is a head-scratcher. He goes to do everything at 100 mph so I don’t really trust him,” he said.

Very tough first year in England for attacker

There have been a few bright moments this season. However, it still appears that Mudryk is struggling to silence his doubters at Chelsea.

Of course, he is still only a young player. The winger turned 23 earlier this month. So it is too soon to write him off completely. But Chelsea fans would be forgiven for wondering whether he will ever live up to expectations with the club.

Certainly, he did nothing to strengthen his chances of featuring in their next Premier League game, having been left on the bench for their last two top-flight fixtures.

And Burley may not be the only one who is struggling to really put his faith in the attacker.
