There’s growing unrest at Chelsea as Mauricio Pochettino continues to come under increased pressure.
There’s no two ways about it, the Blues are struggling at the moment, and, as ever, the blame is being placed on the manager.
So, if Pochettino does eventually get the sack, who should come in? Well, there’s been plenty of chat as of late about another potential return for Jose Mourinho.
However, speaking to Sky Sports, Stephen Warnock has cast doubt upon this idea.
The pundit says that it is time for Chelsea to move on from Mourinho, claiming that this wouldn’t be the right fit this time around.

Jose Mourinho to Chelsea wouldn’t be right
Warnock spoke about the 61-year-old.
“For me, no, no. You have to move on from it. I think to go back for a third spell would be incredible for him from a nostalgic point of view, but I don’t think it’s the right fit. That period of history for Chelsea is gone, and you have to look forward. Would his style of management work on a squad like that? Maybe, But I think you still need to give Pochettino the opportunity,” Warnock said.
Could work
Warnock says that this isn’t the right fit at the moment, but we’re inclined to disagree.
Think about it, most of Mourinho’s best work has been done with young squads that need moulding – his first spell at Chelsea and his spell at Porto are examples of this, and if he can get his hands on this Chelsea team, perhaps he could replicate that success.
Of course, it’s been 20 years since Mourinho managed to work his magic on those two teams, so perhaps his time has been and gone, but given how poorly Pochettino is doing at the moment, this perhaps isn’t the worst idea in the world.
