Arsenal are firmly in the title race this season as they sit top of the table but former defender William Gallas still doesn’t fancy them.
The Gunners are ploughing on in their pursuit of a first title since the Arsene Wenger years and sit top, above Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta’s side came close last season before spurning a lead and allowing City to romp clear on their way to the treble. However, signings like Declan Rice and Kai Havertz have added depth and quality to the squad and the Gunners are back for more this year.

However, while they might be at the summit, former Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea defender William Gallas still believes the title is heading north.
William Gallas claims Arsenal won’t win the Premier League
Speaking to Gentside, Gallas conceded that while it will be a tough title to win, City will be the ones who prevail.
“I think it’s going to be a hard-fought championship until the end. Even though Manchester City are not looking good at the moment, as we see recently with their draw against Crystal Palace (2-2 on Saturday, December 16, 2023), I still see them winning the Premier League. Liverpool won’t be far away either. Aston Villa are a little bit behind, but I think the Villans will eventually fall because they don’t have the squad to fight until May. I want to see a London team win the Premier League, but I don’t think Arsenal will win the league this season. Next season, on the other hand, that’s for sure!,” Gallas said.
Arsenal need to keep pushing
Once again, Arsenal have got themselves in a fine position. The only difference this year is that there are more teams in and around the title picture.
After going eight points clear last term then blowing it, Mikel Arteta will be determined to see his side do better this time around.
For now, Arsenal just have to keep winning games. That’s all they can do and if City do go on another huge run of wins, there’s nothing they can do.
Ultimately, if Arsenal win the same amount of games as City and the rest between now and the season’s end, there’s a high chance they end up champions.
