'I don’t care how fit he gets': Graham Roberts says one Tottenham player is 'not quick enough'
Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts believes Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is “not quick enough” for the Premier League.
The White Hart Lane icon, speaking on the Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin YouTube channel, said Ndombele would “be better in another league”.
Ndombele joined Spurs to much fanfare back in 2019 for a reported £63million fee.
However, the 25-year-old struggled to make his mark at Tottenham, and Antonio Conte has frozen him out.
Ndombele spent the second half of last season out on loan at Lyon, but they did not sign him permanently.
And this summer, Conte opted not to take the Frenchman on Tottenham’s pre-season tour of South Korea.
On the Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin YouTube channel, Roberts was asked if he thinks Ndombele has a future at Spurs.
“No, not at all, not at all,” he replied. “I think the league is too powerful for Ndombele, I think it’s too quick.
“He’s not quick enough for the game.
“Go to France and you play PSG, Marseille, Monaco, Lyon and Lille, the rest of them you can play at 50 per cent.
“In the Premier League you can’t do that in any game.
“I just think he hasn’t got that in his game, I don’t care how fit he gets, if you look at his stature he runs different.
“And I’m not having a dig at him, I’m just saying he’d be better in another league.”
Spurs are expected to let go of the midfielder if they receive a ‘good offer’ for him.
However, they will not force themselves into accepting a bid that does not provide them with at least a significant chunk of his previous transfer fee.
