Arsenal’s form has dipped massively as of late, and now, the Gunners’ summer transfer business is starting to be questioned.
Declan Rice hasn’t looked like a £105m player as of late, David Raya doesn’t look to be a huge upgrade on Aaron Ramsdale, and, well, Kai Havertz is Kai Havertz.
The German hasn’t looked convincing at all since joining Arsenal, and while he had a bit of a purple patch in November, he’s really regressed over the past few weeks.
Speaking on the Premier League All Access Podcast, Scott Minto has been discussing Havertz, and he says that he still can’t understand why Arsenal signed Havertz in the first place, claiming that they instead should’ve used the money spent on Havertz to buy a quality striker.

Havertz signing remains baffling
Minto shared his verdict on the £280k-a-week player.
“I think it’s a combination of a lot of things, that fox in the box they don’t have. I didn’t understand spending £65m on Havertz, why not use that money and use an extra £30m on a striker.
Not helped
We have to agree with Minto here, this Havertz signing remains baffling.
As harsh as it sounds, Arenal aren’t a better team for having the German in their side.
He’s a downgrade on Granit Xhaka, and he almost never makes an impact on the pitch for the Gunners.
If anything, he’s made the team worse, he seems to constantly be getting in other players’ way, and he doesn’t make enough progressive passes to link the midfield and the attack.
At £65m, Havertz has to be considered one of the very worst signings of the summer, and as Minto says, the Gunners may have been much better off spending that money on a new quality striker in order to improve their attacking output.
Let’s hope Havertz can find a way to turn things around, because, at the moment, he looks like a dud.
