'I check on them': £52m star on Manchester United radar says he's really into Arsenal

Arsenal and Manchester United are just two of the clubs reportedly eyeing Mykhaylo Mudryk.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils have been tracking the Shakhtar Donetsk forward for a while now.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners have been heavily linked with Mudryk for some time now.

In the summer, Mmudryk10 – the player’s official Instagram account – ‘liked’ a post linking Arsenal with him.

And though Mudryk stayed put at Shakhtar, he kept speculation alive just days after the transfer window shut.

He told CBS Sports: “Yes, I think every guy dreams about playing in the Premier League.

“Arsenal is a very good team, very good coach. I like the way they play.

“Yes, from my side, I can’t say no, but a transfer is not only my decision.”

Arsenal ‘are a very dynamic side’

Now, Mudryk has once again spoken highly about Arsenal, in conversation with Vlada Sedan on YouTube, as translated by 90Min.

“From a purely hypothetical perspective if there was the option of being a bench player for Real Madrid or a starter for Arsenal, I’d probably choose Arsenal,” he told the journalist, who is married to Arsenal and Ukraine star Oleksandr Zinchenko.

“But it’s a tough question and involves a lot of factors in my answer. I would first want to know from the head coach that even if I wasn’t a guaranteed starter, that I’d receive a chance.

“Essentially I need to hear directly from the manager what he envisages my role in his side to be. ‘The team’s style of play will play a role. It’s very important to me.”

Specifically asked about Arsenal, Mudryk added, “I check on them on MyScore and know I can check on them when they’re playing.

“I also watch them too. They are a very dynamic side, in general not just in controlling possession but also in scoring goals.”

Mudryk said he spoke directly or indirectly to Brentford, Nice and Bayer Leverkusen during the summer and was ‘upset’ that a transfer never materialised.

“But as we can see now God’s plan is better than my dreams,” he added.

Mudryk getting better and better

Arsenal will surely rue not going all out for Mudryk in summer.

The 21-year-old has gone from strength to strength this season, and is now likely to command a huge transfer fee.

“It’s pretty clear now why Shakhtar Donetsk have turned down €30m (£26m) bid in August for their talented winger Mykhaylo Mudryk,” Fabrizio Romano wrote on CaughtOffside a few weeks ago.

“He’s a really top talent who’s worth more than €45-50m (£39-43m), according to Shakhtar.”

Ben Jacobs, meanwhile, claimed that the likes of Arsenal would have to pay even more – upwards of £52m, apparently.
