'I guarantee': Jamie Carragher makes bold claim about Tottenham star
Jamie Carragher has been discussing his ongoing mini-feud with Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison on JOE.
The Sky Sports pundit says the Spurs ace is a “good player” but “can’t stand” certain aspects of his game.
Carragher and Richarlison had a public spat on social media earlier this year.
The Liverpool legend had accused the Brazilian of diving during the Merseyside derby in April.
Carragher said on commentary for Sky Sports – via the Liverpool Echo – after Richarlison went down: “Honestly, get up, every week I watch him play like that!
“Get up, carry on. He’s been down three times already, [there’s] nothing wrong with him.”
And in May, Richarlison tweeted Carragher after Everton’s dramatic 3-2 win against Crystal Palace secured their Premier League status.
The 25-year-old told the pundit to wash his mouth out before speaking about him or the Toffees, adding that “I don’t respect you”.
Carragher actually liked what Richarlison wrote to him, saying he’d have done the same during his playing career.
“I think a lot more of him now”
Now, speaking to JOE, Carragher admitted that his respect grew after the reply.
However, he stressed that he still “can’t stand” his alleged theatrics.
Carragher also claimed he could “guarantee” Everton fans they’ll be saying the same if they’re on the receiving end.
“He’s gone for me a couple of times and I think a lot more of him now when he came back at me a couple of times,” Carragher said.
“I think he’s a good player, but I can’t stand it, there’s a difference between diving and feigning injury.
“It’s the going down when he’s not hurt, if you go down to try to get a free-kick and don’t get it, get up and get on with the game.
“He’s holding somewhere he’s not been hit and I’d had enough of it.
“I guarantee you Everton fans when they play Tottenham this season will be saying the same if Richarlison carries on with that.”
