Duncan Castles has suggested on the Transfer Window Podcast that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Jesus Corona from FC Porto.
Interest piqued
Tottenham are apparently trying to trim their wage bill this summer, with Lucas Moura among the players they could sell.
And if the Brazilian does leave then a move for Corona could be on the cards for Tottenham.
“I can tell you that Tottenham are also interested in a player in Portugal, right-winger Jesus Corona at Porto,” Castles said.
“Just a year left on his contract and a position that Tottenham would like to strengthen if they can move out players.
“They have put Lamela on the market and Lucas Moura on the market hoping to receive transfer fees and reduce their wage bill.”
Short term solution?
At the age of 28, Corona isn’t really a player who Tottenham would be able to develop much.
However, the Mexican could represent a decent short term option to ensure that they weren’t left short by Moura’s departure.

Corona’s contractual situation means that Porto are unlikely to be seeking a mammoth fee this summer.
The winger hasn’t actually played in the Premier League before, but he did chip in with 13 assists last season for Porto during an impressive campaign.
He has actually been described as an ‘incredible’ player by current manager Sergio Conceicao (Desporto).
And those quotes may help to convince Tottenham that he could be a solid signing, if the transfer does develop into a more realistic prospect.
