‘I can tell you’: 24-year-old was missing from Tottenham training today – Sky journalist

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero was missing from training today, according to Sky Sports reporter Jeremy Langdon.

The 24-year-old missed Spurs’ comeback win against Bournemouth on Saturday and is now a doubt for tomorrow night’s clash with Marseille.

Antonio Conte’s men came from two goals down to beat the Cherries 3-2 over the weekend.

But Romero’s replacement in the starting line-up in Davinson Sanchez looked shaky before being replaced by Eric Dier just before the hour mark. And now Spurs could be without the Argentine once again tomorrow night.

Romero missing from Tottenham training

Speaking on Sky Sports News, reporter Jeremy Langdon says Romero was absent from training today.

“I can tell you that Cristian Romero is not training here at Spurs this morning,” he said.

“So, that means his participation must be in doubt for the game in Marseille having missed the game at Bournemouth.”

Spurs missed Romero’s composure from the back against Gary O’Neil’s side on Saturday, particularly in the first-half.

The Argentina international has arguably been Conte’s best centre-back over the past 11 months.

Tottenham need to pick up at least a draw in France tomorrow night to avoid being knocked out of the Champions League.

Conte looks likely to be without Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison, with Football.London’s Rob Guest claiming that both players were also absent from training today.

It would be a massive blow for Conte if Romero is indeed unavailable for tomorrow’s game.

The Italian may be forced to play Dier on the right-hand side of the back-three, with Ben Davies and Clement Lenglet occupying the other roles. The trio performed well in the last half an hour of the Bournemouth game.

But Conte will be hoping to receive some positive news on Romero ahead of a massive clash tomorrow night. Without the Argentine, Spurs look far less comfortable with playing out from the back.
