Dean Jones has backed Tottenham Hotspur to make a summer swoop for Christian Eriksen.

The transfer insider reckons Spurs will explore the prospect of signing the Dane if he shows he can play “at Tottenham’s level”.

Eriksen completed a remarkable recovery from his cardiac arrest in the summer when he joined Brentford on a six-month deal last month.

Inter and Eriksen mutually agreed to part ways in December 2021.

This was due to Serie A prohibiting the use of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator device in competitive games.

Eriksen had been maintaining his fitness by training with former club Odense Boldklub.

Now, the 30-year-old is closing in on making a return to competitive action.

He featured for the Bees in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Southend United yesterday.

Eriksen played for Tottenham between 2013 and 2020, clocking up over 300 appearances for the north Londoners.

He was so crucial for Spurs that they reportedly placed a £100million price tag on him in summer 2019, as per The Times.

Conte then brought the playmaker to Inter Milan in January 2020, months before his Tottenham contract ran out.

The pair won the Serie A title together last season before Eriksen’s health scare at Euro 2020 ended his time in Italy prematurely.

“By all means”

Conte has already hinted that Spurs could potentially make a move for Eriksen in the summer.

“For sure, Eriksen is part of Tottenham’s story,” Sky Sports quotes the Italian as saying.

“To come back here would be a good opportunity for him, for me, for the club.

“We won the league, we spent two important seasons together.

“I wish him all the best for the future. And you don’t know what will happen.

“It would be good for me to have him again, to work together.”

Jones also feels Fabio Paratici will look to move for Eriksen if he impresses for Brentford between now and the end of the season.

“If Christian Eriksen shows the form at Brentford between now and the end of the season that he can play at Tottenham’s level and get back to where he once was then, by all means, I can see them being interested and looking to explore that situation,” he told GiveMeSport.
