‘I beg it’s not real’, ‘how is that acceptable?’: Some Liverpool fans fear another injury to key player

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan Diogo Jota’s apparent absence from Thursday’s training session, with the Reds forward nowhere to be seen.

The 24-year-old has been superb for Liverpool since his £41million move from Wolves in September, registering 12 goals in 26 competitive appearances for the Reds.

However, Jota was sidelined from early December to late February due to a knee injury, and the Reds missed him badly.

The Portugal international has since featured in Liverpool’s last six Premier League games and last three Champions League encounters.

Ahead of Saturday’s league meeting with Newcastle, Jurgen Klopp has been putting his players through their paces at Kirkby.

However, Jota – who played a part in Sadio Mane’s goal in the 1-1 draw at Leeds United on Monday – was not spotted in the latest training session.

And given how many injuries Liverpool have had this season, plus the fact Jota was sidelined for nearly three months, it’s made numerous Reds fans worried.
