‘I am very excited’: Arteta thinks Arsenal might just have a gem, he’s not made his debut yet

Mikel Arteta admits that he is ‘very excited’ about the potential of new Arsenal signing Ben White, in his comments to the club’s official website.

Exciting times

White is Arsenal’s biggest summer recruit so far, after he arrived for a £50 million fee from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The price-tag has already raised eye brows, given that White has just one season of Premier League experience.

But Arsenal have high hopes for the 23-year-old, who they believe have bags of potential.

And Arteta admits that he is really looking forward to seeing how White develops at the Emirates Stadium.

“I am very excited,” Arteta said, when asked just how good White is.

“He is a player that we have looked at for a long time. He fitted the profile of exactly what we wanted and he’s settling in really well.”

Debut incoming

White has indeed made a bright start in pre-season, with his performances impressing.

Arsenal haven’t been particularly inspiring in their friendly matches, but White has shown real signs of quality already.

White will now be expected to start tomorrow evening as Arsenal get their season underway.

Mikel Arteta’s side are playing in the Premier League’s curtain raiser against newly promoted Brentford, and the pressure will be on them to collect the three points.
