Jamie Carragher was absolutely baffled by what Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte did during half-time against Newcastle United on Sky Sports today.
Spurs fell to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home today after handing Eddie Howe’s side two goals in the first-half. Hugo Lloris’ blunder led to Callum Wilson chipping the ball over Eric Dier into the Spurs goal.
The Frenchman then played a part in the Magpies’ second goal as his poor pass was intercepted by Sean Longstaff. Miguel Almiron then outmuscled Ryan Sessgnon and skipped past Clement Lenglet before finishing from a tight angle.
Spurs headed into the break 2-0 down and Carragher was baffled that Conte did not make substitutions at half-time.

Carragher baffled by Conte
Speaking during Sky Sports’ coverage of the game, Carragher questioned Conte’s decision to stick with his starting eleven for the beginning of the second-half.
“Yeah I am surprised there hasn’t been changes for Spurs,” he said.
“You have got a manager who doesn’t change too often actually his first eleven.
“I just remember actually doing the Tottenham vs Chelsea game and Tottenham were outclassed for a lot of that game and the changes came in the second-half.
“Then Chelsea went 2-1 up, he went to a back four then. It was something I was expecting, certainly coming out for this second-half.”

Spurs did get themselves back into the game after Harry Kane scored a real poacher’s effort in the 54th minute.
But Conte’s men couldn’t manage to find an equaliser, even after Conte brought on four players during the last 30 minutes of the game.
Today’s loss rounded off a disappointing week for Conte after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
The Italian may have to think about a change of system while Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are sidelined.
Spurs have looked underwhelming while the duo have been unavailable and the 3-5-2 system is not working well at this moment in time.
