‘I am sure’: Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s now hearing about Leeds and next season’s manager

Leeds United are going to go for a younger manager with a long-term project next season.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano was asked about Leeds’ managerial situation and while he said it was too early to give any real concrete answers about the goings on at Elland Road right now, he claimed that Leeds do have younger managers in mind.

With all due respect, it would be tough for Leeds to go out and find and older manager than their current boss, Sam Allardyce, with the 68-year-old reigning as one of the Premier League’s oldest gaffers right now.

Leeds will be looking to go back to a younger option after the reign of Allardyce.

Leeds want younger option

Romano shared what he knows about Leeds.

“Discussing other clubs it is early. With Leeds and many others we have to wait until the end of the season. With Leeds I am sure they are looking for a different manager, a young manager for the future. They have some managers in mind, but these managers are not coming now in April or in May. I don’t see Sam Allardyce staying, they will do something different,” Romano said.

Depends on the league

Leeds United need to have two different managerial shortlists drawn up, one for if they stay up, and one for if they go down.

If they remain in the Premier League, a number of avenues open up. The likes of Graham Potter, Brendan Rodgers and maybe even Marcelo Gallardo become genuine options, but in the Championship, none of those managers will be drawn to Elland Road.

Leeds need to have a Plan A and a Plan B in mind, but one thing is for sure, whatever happens, they need to get this appointment right.
