Gary Neville has now shared one thing that shocks him about Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
The 49-year-old made the comments when speaking on The Overlap’s Fan Debate.
So, what did Gary Neville say about Erik ten Hag at Manchester United? Let’s take a look…
Gary Neville stunned by Manchester United’s style of play under Erik ten Hag
Well, the Sky Sports pundit cannot believe how Manchester United have turned the Dutchman into a manager who now aims to simply grind out results, rather than play stylish football.
Neville said: “I am absolutely bemused and bewildered how we can’t play football under Ten Hag. I can’t believe it.
“You see the football he has played at a previous club (Ajax) and he has come in at United and he resorted last week at City to what Ole did at Tottenham, when he just sat back.
“He just went, I’m just going to get a result. He tried to get a result by any means. How have we damaged Ten Hag? Why can’t get he get a tune out of (these players)?”
Baffling
The situation is certainly a strange one.
Ten Hag previously coached an Ajax side who destroyed Real Madrid by a 4-1 scoreline at the Santiago Bernabeu, while also beating Juventus on the way to reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-final in 2019.

So, we can certainly understand why Neville is baffled to see the 54-year-old set his Manchester United team up like Tony Pulis used to organise his Stoke City side.
The Red Devils went to the Etihad Stadium last week playing like a relegation battler, soaking up pressure before attempting to spring a counter attack, which is how Marcus Rashford scored his goal after some fine hold up play from Bruno Fernandes.

Manchester United – arguably the biggest club on the planet – should not be playing like this, and if Ten Hag cannot drag his side away from this style, INEOS may decide to make a change this summer.
Gareth Southgate is one name who has been linked with the hotseat at Old Trafford – along with Thomas Tuchel, who is leaving Bayern Munich this summer.
