James Maddison has been utterly brilliant for Tottenham this season, but there’s still some debate around what his best position is.
Indeed, while Maddison has been largely amazing while playing in the number 10 role this term, he did a lot of good work at Leicester City down the left wing, and his ability to cut inside and shoot on that right foot makes him a dangerous player when used out wide.
Speaking on The Spurs Show, Peter Taylor has been discussing Maddison and where he should play going forwards, and he says that he would like to see him play on the left wing, particularly for England.

Peter Taylor wants to see James Maddison play on the left wing
The pundit shared his verdict on the £45m man.
“I’d have been a number 10 now. I definitely think with the goals I used to get I was good on both feet, I felt I could’ve scored a load of goals in that position. I’m looking at Maddison now, someone asked me to send the team for the first Euros game, and I actually said I want Maddison in the team, but I want him more wide left rather than in the 10, I think the opposition could stop him as the 10, but then wide left it’s the full-back more than anything,” Taylor said.
Not for Tottenham
While we agree that Maddison on the left wing for England could be fantastic, we don’t really want to see him in that role for Tottenham.
Maddison has been fantastic all season playing centrally, while Spurs have a number of brilliant left wing options who all deserve to play in their preferred role.
Maddison’s versatility is certainly a weapon for Spurs, but, as the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
