Emi Buendia is now an Aston Villa player, and goalkeeper Emi Martinez seemingly had a role in the Norwich City star signing for the club.
As reported by Football London, the 28-year-old keeper played a role in selling the Villa project to Buendia. Arsenal were in the race for the winger, yet Dean Smith’s side beat them for the Championship star’s signature.

Villa paid a reported club-record fee to sign Buendia according to the Guardian, and supporters on social media have been buzzing about the announcement earlier today.
Yet fans are also hailing Martinez’s role in getting Buendia to choose Villa over Arsenal. Indeed, the Gunners held an interest in the South American playmaker for well over a year.

The Villa keeper has won praise for his efforts in getting Buendia to the club. Martinez joined the club last year after being signed by Smith following an impressive run of form in the Arsenal first-team.
Moreover, after his incredible debut year for the club, fans are now even happier with the Argentine’s contributions to the Birmingham-based team.
Here’s what some fans had to say about Martinez’s involvement with the Buendia deal on Twitter…

Villa fans will be excited for the new season when Buendia joins an attack of Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins. Smith’s side finished 11th last year, and could push for a European spot with the Argentine now amongst their ranks.
