A number of Hull City fans have taken to Twitter to criticise Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford after a clash just before the Whites scored their second goal in Tuesday’s 2-0 win.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are back at the top of the Championship after securing the three points. They were however, made to work hard for the victory, with the game goalless until the final 20 minutes.
Leeds went in front thanks to an own goal. And they doubled their lead moments after the visitors had been denied by a brilliant save from Kiko Casilla and goalline clearance from Patrick Bamford.
The Whites then produced a blistering counter attack that saw Mateusz Klich set up Bamford who had sprinted from one end of the pitch to the other to keep up with play.
Bamford’s effort hit the post and found its way into the path of Gjanni Alioski, who did score. Bamford meanwhile, kept moving forward after his attempt and collided with Hull goalkeeper George Long.
Long was down as Alioski found the back of the net. And some Hull fans on social media have accused the Leeds striker of intentionally taking out the goalkeeper.
It must be noted that Bamford was never going to be able to stop immediately after his attempt. And the footage appears to show the forward looking at Alioski and away from Long as they collide.
Unsurprisingly, Leeds supporters believe that there is absolutely no case to answer. But some Hull fans are adamant that Bamford knew exactly what he was doing.
Here is what some of the visiting fans made of the incident…
A ban for bamford.. @FA

Looked blatant to me. Red card and disallowed goal in the PL.

He steps his run slightly to make contact. Looks like his hip but he knew what he was doing.
We weren’t good enough at the end of the day and have more gears than we showed. Team looks tired cos we have little depth.

Bamford was a disgrace…Watch the slo-mo…Has the audacity to fall back on Long like he’d been dragged backwards to make sure he was grounded. Dirty, Dirty Leeds. Always was, always will be.
