Hugo Oliveira has posted a heartfelt message to Everton fans on Twitter after the goalkeeper coach joined Marco Silva in leaving Goodison Park on Thursday evening, following the Portuguese managerโ€™s sacking.

Silva was relieved of his duties after 18 months in the hotseat at Goodison Park, with The Toffees sitting in the relegation zone. Everton suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat to Merseyside rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Vitor Pereira is reportedly the front runner to take over at Goodison Park, with the Portuguese manager currently impressing as Shanghai SIPG gaffer. Carlo Ancelotti, David Moyes, Mauricio Pochettino and plenty of other bosses have been linked.

Oliveira, 40, has worked under Silva at Hull City, Watford and then Everton. He posted on Twitter an emotional message to Toffees fans, stating it was a pleasure to represent the Merseyside outfit as goalkeeper coach.

Oliveira did have a contract at Goodison Park until the summer of 2021, but it is now clear that he will be leaving Everton along with Silva. Duncan Ferguson has been placed in interim charge until a new manager is appointed.

Everton fans reacted to Oliveiraโ€™s Tweet, with many thanking the goalkeeper coach for his efforts during Silvaโ€™s reign. It remains to be seen if Oliveira will follow Silva into his next job.
