Tottenham might have eventually seen off Wolves yesterday but it wasn’t all plain sailing for Antonio Conte’s side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A second-half goal from Harry Kane proved enough for Spurs to take all three points and go top of the league until Arsenal usurped them later in the day. Kane’s header from a flick on from Ivan Perisic was typical of the England skipper, who once again was in the right place at the right time.

However, while the celebrations were there for all to see at the end for Tottenham, things weren’t quite as rosy throughout the 90 minutes. Indeed, Football London’s Alasdair Gold pointed out one big argument between Hugo Lloris and Heung-Min Son, with the French ‘keeper seemingly furious at the Spurs forward for not making a run forward.
Lloris, as we know, is the Tottenham captain and at times he can lose his temper. This example here is just typical of this Tottenham team under Antonio Conte. There is a determination to win and always be doing the right thing, something which Lloris clearly felt Son wasn’t doing.
TBR’s View: Tottenham Players Demanding Right Standards Is A Positive
The best teams aren’t afraid to go after each other when the chips are down and give each other a kick up the backside and this is what happened here.
Lloris had clearly seen an opening for Spurs to get something out of a situation and felt Sonny didn’t quite have the same feeling. For that, the Spurs skipper simply gave the Spurs forward a piece of his mind.
But on the whole, this is good and Conte will actually love it. He wants to see his plans executed and in seeing his skipper bark orders at a key and senior player, it shows nobody in the Tottenham team is exempt from a telling off.
