Spurs goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, believes Dele Alli is showing everyone how good he is and praised the midfielder’s professionalism following the January window.
Alli was tipped throughout the window to make a move away from the club. Those talks intensified when Mauricio Pochettino showed interest at PSG. However, Alli has remained at Spurs and got a Premier League start at Fulham in midweek.
Indeed, he very nearly got on the scoresheet, only to see his ‘goal’ go down as an own-goal in the end.
And Lloris, speaking ahead of this weekend’s fixtures, believes Alli should be praised for his attitude and says his return is a big boost for Spurs in the final run-in.
“As a team-mate, he’s always been professional, he put his disappointment on the side and from day one in the second part of the season, after the transfer market closed, he switched on and he started to step-by-step improve his fitness and get as much confidence as he can,” Lloris said, per the Daily Mail.
“Now he’s coming back and that’s good for the team and obviously the best for the season is ahead of us.”
Alli will be hoping to keep the faith of Jose Mourinho going into the next few weeks. The game at Fulham gave Spurs a glimpse at an Alli, Kane, Son, and Bale quartet in attack.
TBR View: Dele Alli is quality, it’s a huge boost for Spurs
Lloris is not daft. He knows how good Dele Alli can be and has seen it first hand during his time with the club.
Having Dele back is massive, especially if he is playing well as he has shown of late. Spurs have clung onto being in contention for the top four.
Keeping Alli fit and firing, then, could well be a big difference maker for the north London outfit.
