Southampton played out a 0-0 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon, marking their fifth straight Premier League match without scoring a goal.
After a scoreless home match against the worst team in the league, some Southampton supporters turned their ire towards manager Mark Hughes and demanded his sacking.

The Saints entered the weekend in 16th position, four points above the league’s bottom-dwellers, Newcastle. After the result, Southampton remained in 16th with two points separating them from the relegation zone.
Some supporters looked on the bright side, as Southampton have now kept two clean sheets in a row after last week’s 0-0 draw against Bournemouth. Yet the prevailing mood was one of pessimism, as fans wondered if the Saints could win against anyone if they drew the likes of Newcastle at St. Mary’s.
Overall, it was a poor day on the South Coast for the Saints, and their 2018 home form has been simply atrocious.
With their next league match coming away at Manchester City, Southampton supporters must fear the worst for their side, who already look like they’re in for a long relegation battle this season.
