Tottenham’s Under-23s side secured a victory over Liverpool on Friday afternoon – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter praised youngster Alfie Devine after his contribution.

Spurs beat Liverpool in emphatic fashion 4-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League 2 fixture between the two Under-23s teams.

Elliot Thorpe was on the scoresheet twice for the home side early on, before Paul Glatzel pulled one goal back before half time for the visitors.

However, teenager sensation Devine scored a brilliant goal that went in off the crossbar to help wrap up the three points, with teammate Dilan Markanday adding a fourth late on for the north London club.

The positive result lifted Wayne Burnett’s young Spurs team up to second in the Premier League 2 table.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media hailed upcoming talent Devine after seeing he scored for the Under-23s.

Aged 16, he’s already consistently playing at the top age group for youth football, and he’s an attacking midfielder with such a promising future ahead of him.

He’s made his first-team debut with one senior appearance earlier this season, as he scored in the FA Cup against non-league opposition Marine FC.
