Arsenal have been rocked by the news that forward, Gabriel Martinelli, will miss the rest of 2020 through injury and the news has not gone down too well amongst the Gunners faithful.

The Brazilian has recently undergone surgery after suffering a knee injury at the end of June.

And the official Arsenal website has offered an update on the situation, confirming that while the surgery was successful, Martinelli won’t be returning to full training until the end of 2020.

It’s a huge blow for Mikel Arteta. The youngster was quickly becoming a key player for the Spaniard after some impressive performances following the restart.

But him missing will leave a gaping hole in the Gunners’ squad, while it could also tempt Arsenal and Arteta into the transfer market this summer.

Arsenal fans on Twitter, too, seem to be gutted by the news. And while there are some upbeat supporters who remain positive, it’s clear that it’s a big blow for the club.

Here’s a look, then, at just what some Arsenal fans had to say about Martinelli’s confirmed injury update.
