Huddersfield’s Molineux victory should make Wolves wary of a midweek repeat

It has been a long, arduous winter for Huddersfield Town, who look set to be relegated back to the Championship at the end of the season.

A lack of firepower is the Terriers’ main issue and Wolves will travel to the John Smith’s Stadium tonight confident as heavy favourites to win.

But it should not be forgotten that the last time Huddersfield collected a win, the opponents were Nuno Santo’s side, when an Aaron Mooy double scooped all three points back in November.

And with Huddersfield still looking to edge over the all-time low Premier League record points record set by Derby in 2007-08, they won’t want to let their season just fizzle out.

That’s why Santo should be wary about a repeat tonight. In that home match against Huddersfield, his side were tepid, unable to break down a stout defensive unit.

And that has been a little bit of a theme in Wolves’ season; they are great against the big sides because they can play on the break but they can struggle at times against deep defences of so-called ‘lesser’ teams.

Santo needs his midfielders to play some penetrative passes to test a defence that has been porous in recent weeks and ensure that Huddersfield’s misery continues.
