Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund got his first Premier League goal this weekend and Alan Shearer has praised the youngster for doing so.
Hojlund has huffed and puffed since signing for big money in the summer but has so far only enjoyed goals in Europe.
However, that changed at the weekend as he fired in a dramatic winner to seal a stunning comeback by United over Aston Villa. The celebration from Hojlund told its own story and Shearer believes that the youngster will have been feeling huge pressure.

Alan Shearer praises Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund
Speaking about Hojlund and his first goal on the Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer was delighted to see the youngster net his first PL goal.
And in defence of the forward, Shearer also suggested the youngster shouldn’t be being played as much as he is.
“Hojlund who got his first Premier League goal, you could see the relief on his face. I thought he was going to burst when he was doing his celebrations and rightly so because you can imagine the pressure, unfairly at times because we’ve said it, he should be in and out. He should be learning. He should have a rest one day and back in again. But because of the transfer fee and the situation at Old Trafford he has had to play more than he should have been and that’s been tough on him. But the relief that he will have will be huge,” Shearer said.
More to come from Hojlund
At the end of the day, Rasmus Hojlund is a young striker learning on the job and trying to make his way in the game and we think there’s plenty to come in the future.
Man United didn’t pay £72m for him if he hasn’t got plenty about him. At times, he has shown what he can do and United and Erik ten Hag will be hoping this is the start of a run for the young forward.
Hojlund will also be keen to keep impressing. Yes, he might have been over played a bit but now he has his goal, he’ll want to keep getting picked.
Manchester United are a club in turmoil at times. But now with the 25% Jim Radcliffe takeover done and Hojlund up and running, there’s cause for optimism.
