Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin has been linked with Premier League strugglers Everton this week.

90min report that Everton are monitoring the Frenchman’s situation, although their stance would depend on whether or not they achieve Premier League survival.

This is the second time in 12 months that the Toffees have been linked with Saint-Maximin, and Eddie Howe was asked about him at his pre-match press conference before tomorrow’s clash with Wolves.

“Don’t always believe what you read in the papers. Difficult for you guys to hear that!” Howe told the press.

“I’ve got a great relationship with Maxi. I’ve really enjoyed working with him. For me, we need Maxi at his very best levels.

“Potentially, he could be the difference between staying in the league. He’s an incredible talent and yes of course he has a long term future at the club.”

Everton have seen up close how good Saint-Maximin can be this season, as he blew them away at St James’ Park in February.

It would be a huge shock if Newcastle sold the 25-year-old. He is a talismanic figure and has the quality to play at the very highest level.

Of course, Everton may not even be playing in the top flight this season at this rate, having fallen to a 3-2 defeat at Burnley last time out, with a really tricky run-in ahead.
