Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has described midfielder Miguel Almiron as ‘unplayable’ at times under Eddie Howe.

Almiron has three goals in Newcastle’s last two matches as they have put nine past west London rivals Fulham and Brentford.

The Paraguay international has struggled to show his best form in English football so far but Burn has suggested Howe has given Almiron so much more confidence.

Burn on Almiron

“You just feel you need to get the ball to them (Newcastle’s attackers) and just watch them,” he said on TalkSPORT (11/10 9:41am).

“It’s a big confidence thing as well, especially with players like Miggy (Almiron), who maybe wasn’t playing as well at the start of his career here.

“But I think it’s just that confidence and knowing that the manager’s got that belief in you to go and do the things he’s doing, and I think he’s unplayable sometimes.”

Newcastle were playing well in the opening weeks of the season but they often dominated matches without winning them,

But they have now found ruthlessness in their last two games and Almiron has more than played his part in that changearound.

The challenge for him now is to keep it going as Newcastle try and push towards Europe in Howe’s first full season in charge.
