With the Italian national side now out of the European Championships following defeat to Germany on penalties, Antonio Conte will soon be starting at Chelsea.

The Italian’s preferred choice of formation was a 3-5-2, which was able to slip into having five at the back when defending at Euro 2016 and his squad exceeded all expectations.

In the early days of his Manchester United career, Louis Van Gaal opted for three at the back but the Dutchman didn’t have much success, perhaps due to the gung-ho attacking style of the Premier League.
