Haavard Nordtveit – 5

Struggled at times up against Roberto Firmino who was far from his best, with the Brazilian’s movement causing real problems for the makeshift full-back.

Winston Reid – 6

Could have done better to prevent Adam Lallana from gaining the extra yard of space to open the scoring early on but recovered and improved as the game went on as he refused to allow Divock Origi room to manoeuvre.

Angelo Ogbonna – 6

Like with Winston Reid, he started poorly but improved as the game went on. Steadied the ship when the panic looked like it may have set in amongst his teammates and kept things calm at the back.

Aaron Cresswell – 6

Dealt with the threat of Sadio Mane well given the difference in pace, this was one of his best defensive displays since returning to the side from injury but he didn’t offer his usual contribution going forwards.
