Last season’s title race between Arsenal and Manchester City was one for the ages.
The Gunners led the way for a long time, but a late-season collapse opened the door up for City to retain their crown and ultimately become treble-winners.
Make no mistake about it though, Arsenal pushed City to the limit, and speaking on Premier League Productions, Kyle Walker has been discussing the Cityzens’ title win, and he says it was that much more sweeter because Arsenal were right there alongside them.

Arsenal’s challenge made it sweeter for City
Walker spoke about winning the league last year.
“Describe the feeling of winning the Premier League last season?” Walker was asked.
“Incredible, just because of how well Arsenal did and to win it how we won it was, I think it was great,” Walker said.
Not the sweetest
Walker says that this title win was so sweet because of the challenge from Arsenal, and we can only imagine that there have been a couple of title wins in recent years that have been even sweeter.
Indeed, let’s not forget, City only beat Liverpool to the Premier League title by one point in both the 2021/22 and 2018/19 seasons with both teams achieving over 90 points.
Yes, Arsenal were fantastic last season, but make no bones about it, the Gunners haven’t been City’s great rivals during this period – Liverpool are the team that have truly pushed Pep Guardiola’s side to their absolute footballing limits over the past few years.
Mikel Arteta’s side do appear to be taking up that mantle at the moment, but last season’s title race was far from the most difficult challenge that City have had to navigate in the Premier League in recent years.
