How Twitter reacted to Romelu Lukaku’s move to Manchester United from Everton

After initially agreeing on a deal in principle, subject to medical and personal terms, today Manchester United announced the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Everton on their official website.

It is arguably the most high-profile transfers so far this summer, with the 24-year-old becoming a Red Devil and joining Jose Mourinho and the other United stars, including close friend Paul Pogba, who joined the Manchester club last summer for a world record fee.

Lukaku has made a name for himself in the Premier League for scoring goals. In his time at the Toffees, the striker has developed into a superb forward, reaching another level last season, as he managed 25 goals in the league.

He makes the move to a United side that struggled in the Premier League last season but had much success in cup competitions. Mourinho will be hoping that Lukaku and his goals will help them with continued Cup successes as well as a challenge for the title next season.

Speaking to the official club website, the Belgian said: “For me it was the perfect opportunity to make the big step and as a club, when Manchester United comes and asks you to play for them then you do not say no.”

His manager, Jose Mourinho, added: Jose Mourinho said: “Romelu is a natural fit for Manchester United. He is a big personality and a big player. It is only natural that he wants to develop his career at the biggest club. He will be a great addition to the group and I know they will make him very welcome. I am really looking forward to working with him again.”
