How Twitter reacted to news that Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne is ruled out for several months

After a promising start to the season there was some bad news around Anfield on Tuesday afternoon Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp announced the full extent of Nathaniel Clyne’s back injury.

The 26-year-old managed just 45 minutes of pre-season football before being ruled out of the opening to the Premier League campaign, and three games in he still isn’t fit enough to return.

And the warning signs were there yesterday afternoon when Klopp announced his squad for the Champions League this campaign, with the England international a notable absentee for Liverpool.

Speaking earlier today with an update, BBC Sport relays that Klopp said:

“The reality is we are looking at some time before he is back.

“I’m told it’ll be longer than a couple of weeks, so we will continue to monitor and assess. If we are fortunate enough to still be in UEFA competition in the new year he could be added to the squad.”

It now looks increasingly likely that Clyne will also miss out on England’s upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier double header against Slovenia and Lithuania, putting his spot at the World Cup in jeopardy.

And Liverpool fans took to social media to share their dismay…
