Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini, who emerged as one of Louis van Gaal’s most consistent performers at Old Trafford last season, continued his remarkable form in his most recent international outing.
The Old Trafford faithful will have been watching with intrigue as the lanky Belgian took centre stage against the French this weekend.
The 27-year-old scored twice as the Red Devils produced an entertaining attacking display to win 4-3 at the Stade de France.
Fellaini pounced with a close-range finish and a powerful header to put Belgium 2-0 up at half-time and take his international tally to five in the past three games.
What’s more, the Manchester United midfielder added an assist to his personal tally when providing the pass from which team-mate Radja Nainggolan scored just after the break to make it 3-0.
Incredibly, he then created the opportunity for Belgium’s fourth, winning a spot-kick for Marc Wilmots side, as he was felled by Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny in the penalty area.
