According to BBC Sport, Liverpool have today confirmed the signing of Burnley striker Danny Ings. The 22-year-old becomes the second summer signing at Anfield after James Milner joined from Manchester City last week.
The England Under-21 international is out of contract at Turf Moor come the end of season and will join the Anfield outfit on 1 July providing all goes well with his medical. All that’s left to agree is the compensation fee that The Clarets are entitled to.
Following an underwhelming season, in which Brendan Rodgers’ side scored just 52 goals, Ings will provide some much needed firepower upon his arrival.
The Clarets frontman scored 11 goals in the Premier League this season, despite his side’s eventual relegation, outscoring the Reds’ top scorer for the season, Steven Gerrard, with just nine.
Between them, the Liverpool front-four – Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini – scored just eight times. As a consequence, it is likely that Ings will make an instant impact.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the Burnley striker’s confirmed transfer:
