How Twitter reacted to Kyle Walker-Peters signing a new contract with Tottenham
After making his first Premier League appearance of the season, Kyle Walker-Peters has signed a new contract with Tottenham, committing to the club until 2020, as announced on their official website.
After signing a new deal, Walker-Peters, as reported by Sky Sports, said: “Buzzing to sign a new contract with Spurs, can’t wait to see what the future holds”.
The youngster only made his debut two weeks ago, yet, following a Man of the Match performance in the 2-0 win against Newcastle, Walker-Peters has been rewarded for his display.
However, his new deal doesn’t just come for making a senior appearance. The 20-year-old has had a stellar summer, playing a key part in England Under-20’s World Cup triumph in June.
His form for his country meant it was only a matter of time until Walker-Peters got his first-team opportunity. With Kyle Walker joining Manchester City and Kieran Trippier injured, his chance to shine came against Newcastle in Spurs’ season opener.
The Englishman certainly took his opportunity with a tidy performance, creating one key opportunity for his side whilst maintaining a 91% pass accuracy.
His defensive work was also just as impressive. Walker-Peters completed four defensive actions, clearing the ball three times and intercepting once. In what was a tight affair at St. James Park. His solid performance helped his side massively.
Following news of his new contract, social media has been buzzing with reaction. Here is what users on Twitter had to say:
Many were delighted Walker-Peters had committed his future to the club…
