For the first time since the 2014-15 season Everton will embark on a European adventure next season, and on Friday morning the Toffees found out the first obstacle on the long road to glory.
The draw for the third qualifying round of the Europa League has pitted Ronald Koeman’s side against either Slovakian outfit Ruzomberok or Norway’s SK Brann, with their tie still in the balance.
Goodison Park will play host to the first-leg in a fortnight’s time, with the away leg taking place a week later – just nine days before Everton’s Premier League campaign begins up against Stoke City.
It’s still anyone’s guess as to who their opponent will be on 27 July though, with SK Brann 1-0 winners in the first-leg of the second qualifying round tie ahead of the return fixture next Thursday.
Should the Merseyside outfit progress through this round then they’ll advance to the Play-Off stage.
Everton’s Twitter account kicked off the social media activity with this tweet…

With some even wondering if their potential opponents were real teams…
What's a Ruzumberok lmao. Sounds like something straight out of Warcraft

But fans of their potential opposition are already relishing the Everton challenge…
Ružomberok gotta beat Brann away. I wanna see them playing at Goodison Park… but more I wanna see Everton playing at Ružomberok ? #EL

And on a side note, some fans were still licking their lips after this Wayne Rooney stunner yesterday…
Wayne Rooney scored this brilliant goal just 34 mins into his first Everton pre-season game.
The perfect start! ?
