The Premier League season has come to an end, but before clubs can fly out to different corners of the world for their pre-season tours, signings have already been made.
At the moment it is mainly free transfers being snapped up, James Milner to Liverpool being the latest bosman to go through after his contract at Manchester City expired. But one transfer has made noise on social media, just because he has a funny sounding name.
Schalke full-back Christian Fuchs joined Leicester on a free earlier this week, which obviously sparked the internet to do what it does best; mainly create a whole host of Fuchs related puns.
The 29-year-old has signed a three-year deal at the King Power Stadium and becomes Nigel Pearson’s first signing of the summer. The Austrian has been capped 66 times by his country, while he has made 99 league appearances for Schalke – agonisingly close to a century.
Following the move, he said: “I’m happy that I’ve signed for Leicester City. It was always a goal for me to play in the Premier League, and I’m happy that this dream has come true.
