How Twitter reacted to Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek joining Crystal Palace on loan

Premier League champions have let their academy graduate Ruben Loftus-Cheek has joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan, as announced on their official website.

The Englishman has played little part in Chelsea’s successes last season, mainly appearing in the cup competitions along with other second string players. In the league, Loftus-Cheek only appeared on six occasions, all of them being substitute appearances.

He had such little impact that he failed to create a chance for his side while only making 22 passes. Antonio Conte has clearly seen nothing to build him into his plans and instead, like many Blues players, Loftus-Cheek heads out on loan.

The England Under-21 international become Frank de Boer’s first signing for his new club Crystal Palace. The Dutch manager joined last month, but he is yet to spend any money as Loftus-Cheek only joins on a temporary basis.

The 22-year-old midfielder, speaking to Crystal Palace’s official website, said: “I had the option of coming to Palace and I thought that it would be great for me, I live not too far away, I was born in Lewisham and Palace is good club so I thought it’s a good chance to play here and be a part of the team. They have a very strong team and I’d like to be a part of that this season.”

His arrival at a fellow Premier League club got social media talking. Here is how Twitter reacted:

Some Blues fans wished him luck…

This individual could be described as an optimist…

Yet, others were pessimistic about the deal…

This fan felt as though his loan deal is a sign of something better to come…

While this person used hindsight to comment on the signing…

And finally, there’s always someone who wants to talk about Manchester United’s Paul Pogba…
