Immediately after signing a new six-year deal, Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma has joined Stoke City on loan for the upcoming season, as announced on the Blues’ official website.
The Frenchman links up with Mark Hughes, as well as compatriot Gianelli Imbula, at the Potters, as the mid-table club look to build on their fairly average campaign last term.
It hadn’t been the greatest of seasons for Zouma either, as the 22-year-old spent most of the time recovering from a serious injury that ruled him out for over half of the 2016/17 season.
When he returned from his spell on the sidelines, the Frenchman was eased back into first-team action, mainly playing in cup games and being brought on as a sub in Premier League matches.
Zouma would go on to form a vital part of Chelsea’s journey to the FA Cup final, however, and the signs look promising for his future with the Blues.
A six-year deal suggests he will return as a key player and he will have done his long-term career at Chelsea no harm after gaining a call-up to the French national squad.
He played part in both France’s recent friendlies against Sweden and England.
At Stoke, he is certainly a great option to have and it’s expected that he will play a key part in their campaign next season.
The Frenchman’s move gained a reaction on social media.
