It’s official. French striker Alexandre Lacazette has signed for Arsenal. The Lyon man had been expected to join the Gunners this week and, after a long wait, the announcement came on the club’s official website.

The France international joins for an undisclosed fee that may total £52 million over the course of his contract, according to Sky Sports.

Lacazette signed a long-term deal with the Gunners on Wednesday afternoon and, after completing the transfer, he said: “I am, of course, delighted and very proud too because Arsenal is a legendary club. Throughout my childhood, thanks to Thierry Henry and other French players, I always dreamed of playing for this club so today that dream has been fulfilled.”

Arsene Wenger was also pleased to complete the deal, suggesting that his new man would help the club challenge again next campaign. The Arsenal manager said: “…he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher. As well, he has very interesting technical qualities and a strong character. So he is a guy who is a great addition for us, and someone who will help us challenge at the top level this season.”
