After Kyle Walker’s departure to Manchester City was confirmed at the back end of last week, Tottenham’s official website announced this afternoon that Kieran Trippier has signed a new deal.
It is understood that the 26-year-old right-back – who was signed from fellow top-flight outfit Burnley for £3.5 million in 2015 – has penned an extension that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2022.
Trippier put in a string of impressive performances during the second-half of last season, being selected ahead of Walker for the north London derby and FA Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea.
He made 12 Premier League appearances for Tottenham last season, contributing five assists – resulting in his debut England call-up against France – and he looks set to be the first-choice right-back this year.
It was Tottenham who took to social media first to announce the news…

Kieran Trippier > Kyle Walker. Excellent week for Spurs this to get the former to sign a new five-year deal and getting £45m+ for the latter

can't ask for anymore from an attacking sense out off Trippier, crossing/final ball superior to Walker. Just get him working on defense

Others wondered whether he could be as good as Walker in the long-term…
Trippier won't end this season as our first choice right-back.

Whilst some were wondering when Mauricio Pochettino will delve into his pockets…
Ahh a ploy get Trippier to sign a new contract THEN announce a worldy RB.

But one man in particular decided to focus on Trippier’s photogenic ability…
Trippier looks like he's either a) filming a hostage video or b) wearing the wry smile of someone who knows where all the bodies are buried. https://t.co/pIJstK0QDa
